Born in Aurora, Illinois on May 20, 1979. Melissa Torres’s passion even as a young girl has always been any form of art. From the early age of 7 she was in gifted art programs. Melissa uses her art as a therapeutic tool to inspire as well as teach others. She is a survivor of domestic violence and she uses her gifts and talents to assist others with similar stories. Giving survivors a voice and discovering various methods of self-expressions in the mist of trauma.
Description of my work…
Both sculptures are a resemblance of Afro Latino figures that I grew up seeing. The women sculpture is called” Beauty In My Brokenness”. The man sculpture is called “Jose Tito”.
